I am Titanium. Jk, I am Shirin.
"Any set back is temporary" - Sun Yat Sen. 26 September 2013

This is a very common phrase in Chinese, I bet most of you would know it.
Went to Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall Museum with Dad and Cindi to have a look and get some good shots.

Exterior of the Museum. Really nice building. (How nice would it be if it was my house. HAHAHA.)

This is the sticker with the Museum name printed on when you enter. There isn't any entrance fee for Singaporeans. However I did not know that we have to show your Identification Card, Ez-Link/student pass. I was the only one who did not bring any of it . Thank goodness the kind lady at the counter let me in, but warned me.

These carvings are the "stamp" for the olden day's way of printing the newspaper. They had to pick out every single word just for the article, imagine how tough that was!

This is only part of the shelf containing the words.

I was craving for some good Malay food and Dad got me some Mee Siam @ Whampoa. It is one of the best Mee Siam I've had. However, the chili wasn't spicy at enough. Whampoa Hawker really have loads of good food. Yong Tau Foo, Oyster Omelette Sliced Fish Bee Hoon, Hainanese Curry Rice, Wanton Noodles, etc.

This stall probably sells the best Yong Tau Foo. It isn't like the typical Yong Tau Foo stall, where you have to pick the items you want. This stall only have these standard items when you order. (This is similar to Gao Ji @ Chinatown, but I definitely prefer this stall) I was totally salivating when I added this photo.

Headed to Sungei Road Thieves (Flea) Market.

At first I was really afraid that the uncles there would scold me for taking their photo. However I came to realise that they do not mind you taking photos of their items being displayed. One uncle even got up from his seat just so that I could get a better shot of the items. (:

Anyone remember these? (:

Top view of the entire Sungei Road Thieves Market from the block nearby.

I was surprised that there are really a lot of people at the Thieves Market and actually buy the stuff there. This is the other side of Singapore that I bet not many, of  my generation, have seen it before. I heard that this Flea Market will be gone soon, so do go there and have a look before it completely vanishes. (:

Enjoy your day. xoxo. (:

An awesome day with the Engineers @ USS. 23 September 2013

Managed to gather a few friends to go Universal Studios Singapore. We definitely had loads of fun and enjoyed our day.♥  I bet most of us hadn't have such great time in awhile. We practically screamed for each ride just to get in the mood of it. (End up losing our voice, but so worth it.)

For the Madagascar: A Crate Adventure, Gladly, Randal and I were dancing and partying through out the entire ride behind Justin, Bryan and John while they Vlog.

We were really upset when the Human and Cylon Roller-coaster wasn't in operation. Thus we took the Mummy ride 3 times and waited for 5-10mins each time. We tried to perfect our photo shot during the ride, however it turned out really hilarious and other guests were totally judging us in the photo.
BUT WHO CARES, WE HAD FUN.

Twice of the Transformers ride, where I almost had motion sickness and Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure, where most of us got drenched but luckily Justin and I wore a Poncho. (I felt like a loser. HAHAHA) Randal did video recording during the ride until they made an announcement saying that VIDEO RECORDING IS NOT ALLOWED DURING THE RIDE.

This was the second time we rode it, the 6 of us had the entire raft to ourselves.
Gladly and I.

Group shots! ♥

With Big Bird. (:

Whenever we hear some songs like, Don't Stop The Party by Pitbull, Madagascar's Theme Song (I like to move it), Sherry, Walk Like A Man, Big Girls Don't Cry originally by Four Seasons, Jailhouse Rock by Elvis Presley, etc, we will be dancing and singing along the streets of USS. It was really fun.

Sherry, Walk Like a Man, Big Girls Don't Cry and Bye-Bye Baby performed by Jersery Boys/ Four Seasons. (Oh man, I miss Jersey Boys, The Musical)

We left for dinner @ Vivo. At that point of time, everyone were famished and even had headache.
Headed to Vivo's open space where we relaxed there before heading home.

Really enjoyed my day with these lovely people. It's so sad that we are gonna split class so fast. ): Gonna miss all the fun we had.♥

Gonna go USS again! But with Cindi.

Have a great week! (:

Gift of joy. 21 September 2013

Bought a Marc by Marc Jacobs gift for a relative's upcoming Birthday.

While mum and I were looking at the stuff there, I saw this really nice laptop case. I was really tempted to buy, but no. I've gotta save up first.

Managed to meet up with Charlotte for a short catch up session over tea @ Jones the Grocer.

Despite the fact that I've gotten my GPA and course selection results, I was a little unhappy with them. Luckily, I have a great family and a bunch of awesome friends to support me. (wow, it sounds so cheesy. Hahaha)

Managed to play Wii U at Amirul's crib with Hazel, as we were all bored. His mum was so nice to cook us noodles and chicken nuggets even though we told her that we were full.

We took a little as we felt bad if we didn't eat.

Amirul and I.

Hazel and I.

Had loads of laughter on that day. ♥

Enjoy your weekend! xoxo. (:

Different exposure. 16 September 2013

The places I usually explore will be either town, South, East or West thus I hardly travel to the Northern area. But this week I managed to explore part of the North-West area (sort of), Choa Chu Kang. It was my first time in years that I've been in CCK. Went Charlotte's house with the Mac&Cheese I've made for lunch. We made Cinnamon Rolls and watched Despicable Me 2.

Cinnamon Rolls we made. But the portion that we cut wasn't even. Hahahah.Visited the Michelin Star Restaurant, Tim Ho Wan @ Toa Payoh ERA Centre. Cindi and I went to the restaurant around 1715 and surprisingly, we didn't queue for very long. Thank goodness.

We tried the legendary Baked BBQ Pork Buns. It's like eating Bo Luo Pao and Char Siew Pao together. Thus, this Baked BBQ Pork Bun tasted sweet and buttery. I really like it as it was something new. Almost everyone (except us) ordered a few plates of it for take-away.

Here's some other dim sum we've ordered.

Carrot Cake.

Chicken Feet, Hong Kong style. Typical Singaporean style would be the chicken feet being fried then cooked with the sauce. HK style is without the frying.

Salted and Century Egg Porridge.

 Vermicelli Rice Rolls

Prawn Dumplings. (Har Gao)

Siew Mai.

Osmanthus Jelly with Wolf Berry. This dessert is really refreshing however I felt that it was too sweet after eating the entire piece,  probably it was because of the wolf berry.

In my opinion, I wouldn't go to Tim Ho Wan very often, once in awhile probably. The other dim sum dished were just average. I've eaten better dim sum. I think they are famous because of their Baked BBQ pork buns and the fact that they received a Michelin Star for their restaurant.

Mid Autumn Festival is on 19 Sept. I prefer the candle-lit lantern compared to the electrical-with-music lanterns and I absolutely love the traditional mooncake, without egg yolk. (: The lightings for Mid Autumn Festival is up at Chinatown. Took some shots (with my new Fujiflim X-M1 camera) while I was there for dinner and dessert. Yummy.

Favourite day shots.

Favourite night shots that I've captured.

I finally had my first driving lesson! It was fun. The driving instructor was really "talkative", at least it wouldn't be so awkward in the car and my driving ID is 00715 so my driving instructor asked me: "Eh, your ID is 715, your bf is Qi Yi Wu is it?" Enjoyed my first lesson of driving. Can't wait for my next driving lesson! (:

Have a great week! xoxo. (:

Surrounded by awesome people in my life. 11 September 2013

Just some updates on this week.

Manage to catch up with Geraldine on Thursday.

Lunched at Food For Thought @ Botanical Gardens with her.

Tried Tiong Bahru Bakery @ Raffles City for the FIRST time with Mum and Cindi on Friday. Yes, it's my first time trying TBB. I really regret not ordering their Croissants and Kouign Amann. As we were really filled by lunch, we only ordered their Almond Tart, Dark Lava Cake and Lemon Calamansi Tart.

I felt that the filling for the Lemon Calamansi Tart is too sour or probably it's just me. The Dark Lava Cake is really great. For those who love Dark Chocolate, this is really great.

Meet the lovely people on Saturday to celebrate Hazel's birthday. Managed to surprise her with the help of her brother. So we headed to a nearby restaurant to have lunch and catch up.

Polaroid with the birthday girl.

Fish-eye lens photo with the babes.

Headed to Tom & Toms @ Icon Village for afternoon tea.

Also, my family celebrated my uncle's birthday on Sunday. The carrot cake that I've ordered tasted amazing. I wanna thank Room For Dessert for making the 2kg cake within a day. Most shops requires at least 3 days in advance notice. Their Carrot Cake was one of the best Carrot Cake I've tasted. You can really see the shredded carrot inside unlike some and their cream cheese frosting is really light and not too sweet.

Carrot Cake from Room For Dessert.

Photo with Kai Jing (cousin) and Dad.

My Family of more than 30.

Finally got to meet up with the entire family. Shall end my post here.

Have an awesome week!
